    Hi Graham,
Looking at your list of good/bad points i don't think that the bad points are serious things to be wrong on a 22 year old car---hope your MOT and investigations prove you right to buy it.
I'm looking for another one myself but would prefer to find one within the club.
All the best with yours and as has been said, i'm sure the bodywork would come good with a serious buffing

    Hi Guys
I thought my first post on this forum should be an introduction.

My name is Graham and I've just bought my first XJS after lusting after them for many many years. I've taken a bit of a gamble and gone for one that is cheap and cheerful but relatively solid. I paid £321.04 on ebay for a burgandy 1988 3.6 coupe. The wings, sills etc are all very solid but as expected a lot of the electrics need sorting. I will be putting it in for an MOT next week which will then decide how long it will take to get it back on the road. I do not plan on restoring it as I want to drive it every day and would not want to be stessing everytime I park in Sainsburys car park that it might get knocked or scratched.

I will update the MOT situation once I've booked it in.

So far the list of good and bad looks like
    Body - Solid
Rust - a bit of bubbling by front light and rear butresses
Paint - Same colour all over but patchy
Bonnet - Hinge broken so does not shut
Engine - sounds good - runs at about 50psi oil pressure
Coolant - Split header tank needs replacing
Gearbox - Auto box changes smoothly
Brakes - Off side front siezed on the way home
Electric windows - do not work
    electric mirrors - work fine
    Air con - Not working
Heating and fans - work fine
    Lights - all working
Seats - Drivers seat - small wear patch on bolster
    Carpets - OK
    Headlining - saggy
    Trip computer - Works fine
    Spare wheel - missing
Central Locking - tries to work but not quite working properly

As I discover more good and bad I will update the list

    Graham
