XJ12 will not start, turns over, sometimes will run for a minite or so then cuts out. Getting spark when turning over motor. I put some gas in the intake manifold and it wants to start. When it turns over with hand on the fuel injectors you can feel them click on for 5 seconds and then feel them click off. I feel the injectors are maybe not staying turner on after 5 seconds. I have changed the ignition amplifier and the car ran for a few days and cuts out again. It will sometime start and run for about 5 minuites with the odd misfire and then will die . I borrowed a resister pack and that did not help. Replaced main relay and still no difference. I feel there is enough fuel pressure getting to the fuel rail. I'm hopeing it's not a ECM problem. Could the problem be the pickup module in the distributor? Thanks from Snowboarder

I Fixed It. The problem I had I thought it was the ignition amplifier then I changed the ignition amplifier but didn't have to. After changing the Amp. my XJ 12 ran for about a week then it broke down again. What I found the problem was the wire that goes to the ECU unit from the ignition amp., that is a very thin wire in plastic that is shielded by a thin metal braded wires surrounded the plastic that is in a fabric heat loom. It felt distorted when I pinched the loom. This was at the fire wall (I think some folks call the skuttle) at the rear of the engine compartment; The loom looked OK but heat melted the wires in the loom so it was sometimes shorting out. I was able to cut the wire and replace it. When I crimp the wires
(TIP OF THE DAY) Coat the wires to be crimped with a product called Liquid Tape, and when still wet crimp the wires in the connecter then coat the connecter with more liquid tape the tape over the connecter. This will help with stopping crap from forming on the wires later. Cheers Snowboarder (Grey on a Tray) being 57 years old.
