Whatever way you look at it they are extremely good value (for a good one).
One thing people dont seem to understand is that these cars were made to be driven and that its better to have a well maintained used and cherished car with a 100k on it than one that has sat in the garage year after year and only done 40k.
Mine has done 115k but only 15k in the last 8 years but the engine is just super smooth quiet and refined just how it is supposed to be.
The other thing is ongoing maintainence its a process that never ends and if you have to have a garage to do it then it becomes expensive.
Maybe the public will wake up to just how good these cars are but who cares as long as we know.

One of the issues depressing values is sheer volume of XJS sold by BL and Ford Jaguar, 000's of them so there remains a plentiful stock of good, bad and ugh !!.

Also. how many people actually "yearn to own one" and is that number also reduced by very high fuel costs for any car over two litres, let alone the range of 3.6 4.0. 5.3 and 6.0 engines we have - so are the enthusiasts growing in numbers ? or just us oldie type fellows clinging on the the faithfull vehicle that has huge character. XJS - Never to be seen again in new models, but still immediately greeted by many at the filling stations due to the now perceived elegant and individual looks.
That must be why we mend and restore them, economic value is only what another enthusiast will pay.
However, I am waiting for the new rich Chinese to wake up, possibly India as well, now the home of Tata, Jaguar's current owner.
    Another long chatter, Keith

    Car values

Well let’s look at car values
    How is a car valued?
First you look at how much they are sold for in concurs condition and then you put a value on the one you have
This is broken down in to categories
    Mechanical
A lot of cars haven’t been serviced so look out £ 1000.wont go very far
    Interior
This will confirm the way the car has been looked after
    Body
How much rust is in the body? Remember this is the most expensive part and 95% of all Jags have it
    Suspension and tyres
You can happily spend £1500. So look
    Paper work
Service mileage and owners look at this as it will help you see what work the car has had
All so the amount of cars for sale this is the best way to value a car
A lot of experience in needed to value a car
Why well if you do it wrong then somebody will have big bills for work needed to put it right
As I have said in the post unless it is clean then it is a runner
This is fact he doesn’t like it well I don’t worry about that
As we all know there are some very nice cars out there for no money
We all think the car we have is the best and worth £££££££
