Wiper's Park Position Empty Wiper's Park Position

Post  Ascot Wed Jun 10, 2009 7:24 am

    Hello,
which side should the windscreen wipers park on?
Mine park on the driver's side, obscuring visibility. I've noticed that some other XJS's wipers park on the passenger's side. Can I detatch them and flip them around so that they park infront of the passenger's view?

    Wiper's Park Position Empty Wipers,

    Hi,

it seems you have the LHD American version for the wiper motor,

Wipers should park on the passenger side (near side).

One thing might be worth trying (but check the service manual first), is to reverse the contacts of the wiper motor, and then take the wipers off and park them on the left.

This might work, though I never tried it. The problem in your case, is that the wiper motors actually work in the opposite direction, (anti clock wise). They should be Clock wise for RHD.

Check the circuit diagram first , you can find some hints in the XJS Bible, on Literture, www.xjs.org.uk

    Hello,

Thanks for the info, It seems strange that I may have an American spec wiper motor, as the car is a UK model. Maybe the motor was replaced at a later date. I'll check wiper motor's part number out and see if I can reverse the direction.

The wipers don't obscure visibility much, it's more of an annoyance as I am quite short (5feet 7inches).

    Thanks for the replies.

    Regards,

    Lee (Ascot).
