At risk of being boring etc, my tuned V12 had ex 3.6 getrag five speed kit fitted properly and it has never caused problems, see posts on other Jaguar forum.
Needed full kit from 3.6 ie pedal box, good gearbox etc, plus adapter plate with mods for V12 starter. Machined at least 12lbs off flywheel and clutch is the key, cant remember what we fitted but you need an excellent clutch re torque and it properly set up to be light enough in town use.
Also had to take about 4" from propshaft and have it carefully balanced. Also fitted different rear axle ratio, it is a quick car and slightly more economical on out of town/motorway use.
Well worth the effort and cost.
Supra boxes can also be done.
American boxes are expensive but may well do the task.

I also have a 1985 V12 fully converted that could be for sale, my 1983 is not for sale.

That's useful info re the beemer. How do you mean "be made to fit"? Just a bell housing change or a bit more?

A bit of research suggests that the AJ6 box wouldn't be suitable for the V12, especially my plans for the V12, but I've found options for using a T5, which should be more than up to the job.

the getrag from a 735i manual can be made to fit ...........

most manual boxes cannot take the torque and power from a V12

v12 HE with gearbox from an AJ6 Empty v12 HE with gearbox from an AJ6

I'm looking to put together a manual v12 (5.3 or 6.0). Originally the starting point was to be a V12 auto and then source gearbox, clutch ancillaries etc, but now I'm thinking a slightly easier route will be start with a later manual and drop the engine into it, as all the required pieces are already in place.

Which manual gearbox options will mate up with reasonable ease to any of the V12 HE lumps?

    Cheers!
