If my maths is correct 40 years since the last UK Jaguar left the factory with a leaper on the bonnet.

So any Jaguar after that seen with a Leaper is NOT repeat not standard Not sure of the exact date they became illegal

I shall leave you to work out which Models.

They're legal in the US, Canada and many other countries. They have been sporatic on the XJS for US imports though. On one year, off 2 years, on another year. Personally, I think the XJS looks better without -- and certainly better than having BOTH the Leaper and Growler -- too "busy"

Fitting a mascot of any kind to a post-1970 Jaguar in the UK
is illegal and may be an MoT failure.

Correction to my previous The 420 G also had a mascot it ceased production in 1970

    thanks gents for your input
funny enough i spoke to a policeman on the matter
and he thought that all most pre- 92 jaguars did have them
on and some people had taken them off!He said
it only comes to light when you hit someone or something(god forbid)
    then its explanation time.
i know what Bleasie, is saying but so many have the leapers on
cant beleive that no one else in the club has ever come across
    this.

    anyways thanks again for input

jaguar figure Empty Leapers on Jaguars

Afraid the last reply was not helpfull, or accurate.( Quote XJS should [be XJ-S by the way] is the only Jaguar
that never had a Leaper)suggest you do your homework. To say the police think all Jaguars have them WELL.
There have been many instances of prosecutions for illegal fitting
of leapers. If they were legal Jaguar would fit them American legislation allows.
Even Rolls & Bentley have to comply with the law.
However if you want to risk it its up to you
By the way what is a sort of leaper ? it either is or it isn't

Hi sorry to say but the xjs is the only jaguar that never had the leaper on or as an extra option so cannot legally be used. Saying this many have fitted them with no problems as the police think all jaguars have them. Please don't put it near the windscreen that always looks crap. I have a sort of leaper fitted and no problems so far. All the best and good luck.

    Nothing strange realy
If you want to risk Mr Plod stopping you fit one.
There are plenty of Post MK two Jags with Leapers, icluding S Types & X Types
but they did not leave the Factory like it.
So why ask for trouble, you get caught ,you remove it, left with hole in bonnet

    Do you mean the Leaper??
    If so they are illegal
& have not been fitted to Jaguars since the MK II

    Thanks for reply
i know they are illegal, what year did the mk11 stop
production/ it just seems weird that the 1990 models
have no leapers and i have seen at least 3 xjs 1992 with the leaper on
