Fuel gauge problem Empty Fuel gauge problem

    Hi

I wonder if anyone out there can help me? I have a 4 litre facelift coupe with a strange fuel gauge problem: when you turn the ignition key on the fuel guage rises to the correct position, but then over the course of a couple of minutes it drops to empty.

The low fuel warning light seems to work correctly i.e. only comes on when the fuel is genuinely low, so I don't think it is the sender unit. Do you think I should replace the gauge itself, or is this a wiring problem?

    All thoughts gratefully received,

    Jase.

I am having the same problem with a 1986 XJS V12. But I kinda of figure it out to be a blowen fuse. After I run it for a few mintues. So check your fuse box.
