Re: Door Card Removal
OK, just been out to remove door cards. Very straight forward and easy to do. Photos as promised:
Undo the two screws that secure the small metal plate at the front of the door to the door card and remove the plate.
There is a piece of chromed metal where inside handle meets door. Move this forward (or backward - which ever way it goes) either towards or away from the dash. This will expose a screw head.
Starting where you undid the screws that hold the metal plate, start to pull he spring clips away from the door. Before you go too far, label which wire goes to which on the door mirrors. There are 4 connectors, 2 for each mirror. I put black tape around the wires that matched up to the black plastic connector blocks so to not mix them up.
After all the spring clips have been removed, gently detach the speaker wires (they just clip).
Detach the courtesy light cables
It might be an easy job but it's always nice to see what you can expect to tackle in photos before you start. I hope it's helpful to some of you.

Re: Door Card Removal
Well this would be my area of expertise - I've had to do it enough.
The door car is held by a screw in the front of the door handle, a plate at the front of the door and a series of spring clips so.....
Refitting - as they say - is the reversal of removal
The screw that held on the door arm was in poor shape so I bought a new one for a few pence.
If you have a workshop manual it's page 76-9 of not, PM me and I can send you a TIFF with it on

- Wrap a little masking tape around the inside door handle near where it meets the door - it'll avoid damage later.
- Undo the two screws that secure the small metal plate at the front of the door to the door card and remove the plate (try no tot lose it or the screws - painful experience)

- Undo the screw and remove it. The front of the door handle will be flapping free.

- After all the spring clips have been removed, gently detach the speaker wires (they just clip)
- Gently move the door card upwards to remove it from the door.
- Detach the courtesy light cables

Door Card Removal
Hi Gang
I will attempt to remove my door cards tomorrow in order to remove the mirrors and be able to reconnect them again. I'm sure it's a fairly straight forward process but like all things if you've never done it before there are bound to be some pitfalls.
I propose to make this thread a "How to" by taking photos and writing it up nicely but if anyone has already instructions for this little job could you please write them here so I've got some guidance to start with.
I also wonder whether it's easier to repair the dropped door hinge with the cards off ? I think I read something once about the hinge and it being a ball ache of a job. I'll make a thread for that too once I've done it myself.
Cheers
