Door Mirror Removal Problem
The purpose of removing the door cards was to get the mirrors off because I thought they needed attention because of being loose. Loose on the pivot where they fold in/out.
Now I'm not so sure. I got the drivers side one off no problem but the passenger side is a pain. 1 screw came out but the other is just turning. I looked inside and can see that the sleeve it threads into is not actually attached to the door but is spinning with each turn of the screw. I "assume" the weld of the sleeve has broken - am I right ?
This is a picture (best I could get) of inside the door where the 2 screws go.
Hopefully you can just about make out the small sleeve just right of the hold for the wires. Well, I'm a bit stumped now. I can't seem to hold it still and turn the screw. Should I just cut the top of the screw (just below the head) off ? Would that mean the sleeve would fall down and I'd be left with a hole ? I'm going to bolt them back together so I can get them nice and tight.
