You are correct, bolts are very very rusty!!
Strange as rest of car is rust free and original??
Looks like long winter job!!

They are an ever-living nightmare to remove. The bolts will undoubtedly shear in the process and you'll be left with a stub in the captive bolts on the blades. These will need to be drilled out and re-tapped.

The good news is that the replacement bolts and grommets are pretty cheap and readily available from JDHT.

The removal is covered in page 76-5 of the workshop manual. I have an electronic version, PM me with an e-mail address if you want me to send the page to you.

Just bought 1992 v12 xjs and want to replace rear chrome bumper side blades
From general info understand these are difficult to take off !!

Waiting to get correct manual so working blind at present

Anyone got any advice on best approach ?
