Lock for cabriolet rear window

The circular catch which locks the fold-down rear window of my cabriolet in place when it is up (ie turns the two locks into roll bar) now appears to be recessed into the frame by about half an inch. I am having problems convincing my garage that this isn't how it should be - I am certain that it used to be flush with the frame. Does anyone have a picture of how the catch should look when the rear hood is locked in place? Alternatively - does anyone have any ideas why it should have beome recessed?
