Re: Pre-facelift - What tyres?
The consensus on another board is that if you want to stay with 15 inch lattice wheels (originally 235 60R15) then 225 60R15 are an acceptable alternative. Falken ZE912 is currently the favoured brand but at least there is some choice at this tyre size.
The 16 inchers have a much greater choice. Again, Falkens are mentioned but KWE also mentioned Michelin Primacy Exalto as being rather good.
Other people (you know who you are nikolarun) have fitted whopping 17 inchers on their XJ-S and run 235 45R17s.

Re: Pre-facelift - What tyres?
Has anybody found any other size tires (preferably wider) that fit the 1990 lattice 15" wheels?

Thanks. Sounds good ... loads of choice. A whole range of 225/60 R15s on the usual websites for £50 to £100+ depending on brand (Brdgestone/Dunlop at <£100).

Pre-facelift - What tyres?
I have a 1990 XJS with the standard Pirelli P600 235/60 R15 tyres. These are rare now and not that good by today's standards. (I notice tramlining at low speed and surprising steering with (erm) enthusiastic driving).
What have people done? I guess the post-facelift 225/55 R16 is an option with new alloys?
Keeping the same alloys, I ought to be able to fit 215/65 R15 as it stands. These are narrower and, I guess, less likely to tramline. They also seem cheaper.
205/70 R15 also ought to fit and are dirt cheap, but may be even more surprising at speed.
What works for you?
